Types of Membership

Active Member

OPOA Active Membership is open for enrollment to:

  • All full time peace officers who are certified or certifiable by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.
  • Any person who is employed full time by a city, county, state, or federal law enforcement agency.
  • Full time corrections officers.
  • Full time parole or probation officers.
  • Full time employees of child welfare organizations.
  • Honorably retired law enforcement officers.

The new membership fee for Active Members is $25.00 per year (from July 1 to June 30), with a $15.00 annual renewal fee.

Associate Member

OPOA Associate Membership is open for enrollment to:

  • Persons who are employed less than full time with any of the agencies listed in the Active Member category.
  • Volunteers with any of the agencies listed in the Active Member category.
  • Active or retired law enforcement officers from states other than the State of Oregon.
  • Persons who are active members of any special chapter or subchapter of OPOA.
  • Persons who are not otherwise eligible for OPOA Active Membership.

The new membership fee for Associate Members is $25.00 per year (from July 1 to June 30), with a $15.00 annual renewal fee.

Agencies

If an agency administrator would like to support active and associate memberships for all staff in their department through city funds, all memberships, including choice in the various subchapters, would be $10.00 per member.

Lifetime Membership

Any Active or Associate Member of OPOA in good standing, or any eligible candidate for either status, may apply for a lifetime membership for a one-time fee of $250.00. Lifetime members will have all benefits of regular active or associate membership for life, including the death benefit.

Subchapter Memberships

Each paid OPOA membership allows free membership in one of the three subchapters:

  • Oregon Association of Reserve Peace Officers
  • Background Investigators Association
  • Oregon Association of Property & Evidence Officers
