This conference "add-on" focuses on the basic functions and foundational principles of evidence room management from intake to disposal. We will cover Oregon laws that impact daily procedures, methods of disposal, researching adjudication and more.
This class is intended for the new evidence technician with less than 2 yrs experience.

About...
Darci VandenHoek began her career in 1997 with the Hillsboro Police Dept. where she served for 20 years as an Evidence & Crime Scene Technician and later as supervisor of the unit. In 2018 she migrated down to Salem Police Dept. where she currently supervises the Evidence unit. She is President of the Oregon Assoc. of Property & Evidence Officers.
Lauren Jarrell has over 24 years of law-enforcement experience that spans both sworn and non-sworn positions. She worked as a Corrections Deputy with Jackson County until she switched gears and joined OSP as an evidence technician, promoting to Evidence Program Manager in 2018. She currently supervises 16 ET's and 28 property rooms.

About...
Maddie Knuth has been with Oregon State Police since 2020 as part of the Resilience Team (Peer support). She graduated Bethany College with a BA in Exercise Science and Nutrition and worked as a Personal Trainer and Sport-Specific trainer for youth athletes.
Maddie is extremely passionate about taking a wholistic approach to health and helping people thrive in all dimensions. She is a certified Yoga for First Responders instructor.
Detective Sheldon Clay has served in a wide range of positions throughout his 20 year career from patrol to narcotics, and now as a digital forensics detective.

About...
Det. Sgt. Hinkle has worked for OSP for 19 years, 14 years in drug enforcement and major crimes. Det. Sgt. Hinkle has supervised the OSP Major Crimes Section in the Portland office and now the Major Crimes Section in the Salem Office. He is on the Exec. Board for the Oregon Homicide Investigator's Association.

Det. Eskridge began his career in 2001 as a Recruit Trooper with OSP in Newport. He migrated to Lincoln City PD where he rose to the rank of Sergeant before returning to OSP in 2017. He now serves in the major crimes unit our of the Newport Area Command.

About...
Colin Benson has been a prosecutor since 2002. He has a background in bankruptcy, tax and financial regulation and his caseload with the Oregon Department of Justice is almost completely complex financial crime. He was first assigned a civil forfeiture matter in approximately 2009 and has been managing civil forfeiture cases ever since.

SA Miller is a 10-yr veteran of ATF, serving as a Crime Gun Intelligence Expert & Firearms Instructor. He works out of the Portland Field office.

About...
Gordon Albert retired after 32 yrs of law enforcement service beginning in Arizona and culminating in 24 years at Salem Police. While at Salem, Sgt. Albert worked most every specialty assignment in investigations as well as Crisis Negotiation, IA and Hazardous Devices Teams. He now conducts background investigations and instructs at DPSST.

About...
Dan retired in 2021 after serving 23 years with the Connecticut State Police, beginning as a Trooper and then spending 12 years as a Detective in the Wester District Major Crimes Squad. It was during that assignment that he was assigned as lead investigator of the tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. He remains committed to supporting the families of the victims that were taken that day.
In addition, Dan served 20 years in the CT Army National Guard, where he was a certified instructor and platoon trainer. He has developed and trained on a variety of topics including leadership & team building.

Dan is the Founder & President of RAK Academy and the co-creator of Performance Leadership. He teaches nationwide and strives to inspire his audience to become positive influences in their families, workplaces and communities.
